The year 2003 is the 2nd year of the tenth 5-year plan Taizhou implements. With accelerating development as the motif and taking a new road to industrialization as the goal, Taizhou kept speedy development of national economy and achieved new performance by opening wider to the outside world and advancing economy overall.
| In 2003, Taizhou won sustainable development of national economy and stable enhancement of economic strength. Wenling at the 11th place of China in basic competence of county economy and Yuhuan separately stood at the 32nd and 29th place of top 100 economic counties in China. Its GDP totaled RMB 99.503 billion, 14.9% above that of last year, in which added value of primary industry was RMB 9.289 billion, a growth of 0.9%; that of secondary industry RMB 57.809 |

| Taizhou’s per-capita GDP in 2003 arrived at RMB 18,041, 14.4% above that of 2002, and its gross financial revenue RMB 10.87 billion, 25.2% above the previous year, among which its local financial revenue amounted to RMB 5.27 billion. The annual per-capita disposable income in cities and towns got to RMB 14,525, the annual per-capita net income of the rural residents RMB 13,609. The year-end outstanding of RMB deposits from its banking institutions reached RMB 105.619 billion. The outstanding of saving deposits from its urban and rural people was RMB 54.217 billion. In retail amount of social consumables, Taizhou achieved RMB 26.233 billion in 2003, 16.3% beyond that of 2002. |
